A transmission shop indicated that it depended on what serial number the transmission had, as to which seal kit it used. I assumed all 1964 transmissions (Flight-o-Matic) used the same kit. WebOct 29, 2004 · Though I haven't had this happen on the Flightomatic, I have seen it on other automatics. It was caused by the transmission being overfull. The fluid got extremely hot in use and boiled out the bell housing vent during heat soak after being shut down. After the level was corrected, it went away.
